Hey guys, the blog for "Feature Creature" is live with the first finished entry. From now, all of the monster-movie related work will probably be on the "Feature Creature" blog. "Gather Around the Campfire to Die!"

A tribute painting for the classic 80’s slasher, “The Burning”. Probably my second favourite slasher film of all time, with some great effects work by Tom Savini. (Who turned down “Friday the 13th: Part 2” for this film.) You guys are getting a bit of a sneak preview, the final piece will most likely be posted on Friday on a new blog devoted to these entries. I’ll post the link far before that.

My finally finished “Critters” piece! I want to make this the first entry into a long-running project wherein i will do an illustration either once a week, or once every two weeks, honouring my favourite movie monsters. It’ll be a personal project to keep myself painting, with the added benefit of producing cool monster art i can eventually do something with. I’m aiming for my top 50.

In a week or so, i’m going to start a blog specifically for this project, and this piece will be the first entry. Would you guys be down with seeing more like this? Eventually, i might take requests and commissions, and the end result might even be a show or something way down the line.

Business cards, TCAF, new work

It's been a while since my last post! I'm sorry. I'll try to keep this blog updated, especially since i'm currently renovating my proper site. Not to say i haven't been working on art. I have a couple things coming up down the road that i'll let you guys know about a little later on.

I'm excited for TCAF (Toronto Comic Arts Festival) tomorrow, and I decided to use it as a pretty good motivator to get some new business cards made, as well as to revamp this blog and make it look a little nicer. I'm really happy with the cards. (Which you can look at up above.)

Here's a photo of something i'm working on for the far-off future of September or October. We'll see how that goes. I'll post again soon!

Space and Time and Time and Space

Hello! I have to apologize to everyone following this blog for the lack of discipline towards updates. It's something i'm going to try and get a handle on in the near future.

The "Space and Time" show, organized by my friend (and incredibly talented illustrator) Kat Verhoeven, http://www.verwho.com went very well, and featured some really great art. Including some wonderful embroidered pieces by my girlfriend (and incredibly talented illustrator / fashion lady/embroidering machine) Jenn Woodall. http://www.jennwoodall.com/ With the impending deadline finally gone, and the new year just starting out, i need to get my shit together. A massive rehauling of my website, this blog, and how they are connected is going to be happening very soon, and i cannot wait. In addition, some pictures of the work i did for the "Space and Time" show will hit very soon. I hope you like them.

Hello Again!

So i’m going to be starting an Etsy store as a means of selling high-quality prints of my illustration work. I just got scans made from the last art show i was in. The theme was of doomed and dying astronauts meeting horrific fates.

So my question to you guys: Would you purchase prints from my etsy store if i went to the expense of making them available? Keep in mind these would be high quality giclee prints. I’d have to see about prices, but maybe around $70 to $80 a print? Keeping in mind that giclee prints are very expensive and i’d need to cover the costs. Tell me what you think of the new work!

Hey guys, sorry for the terribly long hiatus between any kind of new work or information. Recently i was asked to be a part of a charity art show for Sick Kid's Hospital called "Have A Heart", and it was a lot of fun! So i have another art show tomorrow evening, at the same place as the "Villain" show, The Sleeping Giant Gallery on Dundas St! Many talented artists are painting pieces about the grimier side of love. For my pieces, i chose to make horrible hybrids of human beings and the reproductive methods of disgusting animals like Anglerfish and slugs. I can't post em' all yet, but here's the Anglerfish piece. Prints will be made available for a reasonable price! Check it out.

So i've been criminally bad on keeping up with updating this blog, and in the time (which there has been lots of) between my last post and this one, i've had an art show. It was quite a success, and was at the Sleeping Giant gallery in Toronto. The theme was Villains, and all of my submissions were villains from old horror and cult films. Even though i am late in doing this, i'm posting the work i had in the show. Very soon, i will update my proper site with the new work, but that site itself might be getting a redesign. We shall see!

Additionally, i have another show coming up next month at the same location, centered around the dark and grimy side of love.

My website is finally, finally up. That took much too long. If you were linked here, from there, and are wondering this space may be, let me tell you! Hopefully i'll get my website up today or tomorrow, but until then, this blog is a lonely time capsule, floating in space. Having just finished my grad show (which went pretty well) i really, really want to paint or draw something that isn't related to me just finished thesis. Most likely, i'll work on the sandwich board for "Eyesore Cinema", a local video store, today.

I hope he pays me a million dollars so i can make rent. Gurgh.
